FAQs

What do I bring?

We will have everything you need. But we fully encourage you to bring along your favourite drink. Clay is always better accompanied by a beverage. Glassware, ice and garnishes are all provided. Along with our favourite sparkling water on tap.

What should I wear?

Whatever you would like. Come as casual and comfortable a you would like, or take the opportunity to dress up a little. Whatever makes you feel good is the right thing to wear. Aprons are provided to protect your outfit in case you are partying on afterwards, but never fear, the clay and underglaze we use all wash out just fine.

Is Firing included?

Yes and no. If you book in for a Glaze Bar Experience, or a Fired Clay Experience then yes. All materials, handling and firing fees are included for your portion of clay. Should you get extra adventurous and decide to create more, you can purchase more clay/firing during your session. Extra bag of clay - $25, which includes the handling, glazing and firing of the additional pieces.

If you have booked in for a Sun Clay Experience, or a kid’s Vacay Clay session, then there is no need for firing. For these sessions we use a special blend of sun clay that dries and hardens naturally within 48 hours. No need for a kiln or any wait time. You will take your creation home with you following your workshop on a provided craft board. You will also have the opportunity to purchase a small bottle of Clay Glaze to take home with you to finish off your work in your own time once it is dry. Bottle of Clay Glaze - $7.

What if my pottery breaks?

We take great care in looking after all of your pieces, but the nature of pottery is that it can break for many reasons.  No refunds are provided in the unfortunate event that your pottery breaks or cracks in the kiln.  Pottery is a very delicate process and cracks can unfortunately come with the territory.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

Please note that by purchasing this ticket you are securing a spot at an event that others may miss out on. As such, we do not refund for cancellations.  However, as long as it is prior to 48 hours before the workshop commences we will happily offer you a seat at another equivalent session, or feel free to transfer your ticket to a friend.

If it is a private group booking that you need to cancel, we are happy to accept a cancellation as long as it is at least 2 weeks before the date of the event. The deposit however is non-refundable.

I can’t find you, where is Palmfolk?

That’s a fair question. Our address is 67B The Esplanade, Cotton Tree. But we admit it’s a little confusing. Our studio is actually located around the corner on First Avenue, just behind Coast Store. Across the road from The Old Courthouse.

Do you have parking on-site?

Yes, we do! Access to our driveway is via First Avenue. We have limited spots available here onsite if you get here early enough to grab one of those. We do ask that you only park along our side near our building, as we share our parking lot with our neighbours and the other side is reserved for Coast Store. Should you come for a night event though, you may park on either side as our neighbours are closed in the evenings. If you do miss out on one of our allocated parks, we suggest you might like to park at the public parking structure just across the bridge at Big Top, in easy walking distance. Note that most street parking around us is limited to 2 hours.

Can I book Palmfolk for a private event?

You sure can. Get in contact with us to discuss your plans. We’d love to help you create a beautiful event.

How long do I have to wait to collect my work?

Pottery is a slow and fragile process. Your work should be ready to collect in about 5-6 weeks from when you create it. We ask you to please be patient with us while we work to finish off your pottery. We will contact you when it is available for pick-up. If you are unable to wait that long, or are in town for a short stay, we recommend our Sun Clay Experiences where our unique blend of clay dries and hardens without the need for a kiln, allowing you to take your creation with you straight after your session. Bear in mind though that these pieces will be decorative rather than functional.

How long do I have to collect my work?

We have limited space to store work in our studio, so we will hold on to all finished pieces for 2 weeks. After that, if your work has not been collected it will be added to our retail shelf of uncollected works and profits from the sale will be donated to our charity of choice.
